Will NEET 2025 be tougher than 2024?

There was an overall consensus among students and educators about the fact that the NEET 2024 exam was rather moderate in its difficulty, with the Physics section being the toughest and Zoology being the easiest. But again there is a possibility that NEET 2025 could seem easy in comparison to previous years but this is usually unpredictable as difficulty is different for every student. As such, trying to always best your previous scores and aiming for a MEAN score rather than focusing on the difficulty of the exam is what one should be aiming for.

NEET 2025 Projections

Keep in mind that all attempting to determine the difficulty of the exam beforehand is pointless and unnecessary as well. If you give the proper time to NEET preparation and work hard then the NEET exam will not seem too challenging and will surely increase your chances of success. It is highly likely that not all the subjects will be straightforward. So prepare and be ready for any challenge that might come your way in these three subjects.

Reports are now claiming that due to a massive increase in candidates applying for NEET examination, the NTA (conducting authority for NEET) might be thinking of increasing the overall difficulty level of NEET exams for 2025. Such claims are understandable as there was a nationwide outrage after we witnessed a noticeable pattern of reported malpractices led by varying individuals during the NEET 2024 examination.

What Factors Will Contribute to the NEET 2025 Difficulty Level?

NEET – National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – is an entrance exam for all the students wishing to take admission into an undergraduate medical course – MBBS, BDS in any government or private institutions in India. Here are some of the factors that could contribute to the NEET 2025 difficulty levels-

  • Wider NEET Syllabus: The syllabus range is wider, as it comprises Biology, Chemistry and Physics topics for both Class 11 and Class 12 students. To cover these many topics, it’s apparent a lot of time and effort is required from a student.
  • Tough Competition for Seats: The number of seats offered is lesser than the number of students wanting to secure a position hence the ratio of available seats to applicants is tougher than ever. The trend each year is getting higher, and so are the cut-off marks. Over 24 lakh candidates filled in the application forms for NEET 2024 and chances are that number is only going to rise next year.
  • Negative Marking: Getting an answer incorrect only decreases the score, which means caution has to be taken during each answer. Negative marking is known to make students nervous or unsure before attempting a question.
  • Time Management: The duration of the exam is three hours and during this time, students have to answer 180 questions. It’s no surprise that proper time management skills and pressure management skills have to be on point.

NEET 2025 Preparation Strategy

The last year witnessed the highest registrations for the NEET exam with more than 2.4 million registrations in 2024. Going by trends, this year’s numbers for NEET 2025 registrations will go higher. So, it is imperative to have an effective strategy in place for NEET 2025.

As per the previous years, competition in the medical field will be intense. In order to be successful, it is crucial for the students to build a plan and tackle the NEET 2025 syllabus with focus and effort. Below are the ways to prepare efficiently for NEET 2025 along with the tips:

  • Structured Study Plan: Set up a thorough study timetable that details the amount of time to be spent on different subjects including revision sessions. Divide the syllabus into parts that will allow the whole syllabus to be completed on a specific date.
  • Focused Study Material: During your studies, consider NCERT textbooks to be your main source of information. Then, as additional materials, use reference books which will further support your preparation by aiming for the specific NEET questions.
  • Regular Practice: Use mock tests and the papers for the last few years on a regular basis. This gets you used to the format of the exam and helps you to pinpoint the areas where you are weaker.
  • Join NEET Coaching: Register with a NEET Coaching that offers valuable training, assessment, study material, teaching staff and assessment tests.
  • Time Management Skills: Practice and develop time management skills in order for you to complete the exam within the time allocated to you. Decide how to attempt different sections according to your level of comfort.
  • Keep Yourself Posted: Try to remain aware about the announcements related to NEET 2025 exam date the rest from the NEET specific webpage or any other educational sites you trust.
  • Mental & Physical Well being: You must focus on eating right, exercising regularly and getting enough rest. Both mental as well as physical health are indispensable for long term study and good work.
